SPRO Braid
All,
Been using SPRO braid recently as it was recommended to me.
However it is now destined for the bin having lost two decent lures, one of them my new TH Shallow.
I had two snap offs, which has not happened to me before, right at the swivel before the fluro. Both times there was a small wind knot on the spool that I had not spotted.
Anyone had any similar experience with SPRO Braid or with other braids?
Any recommendations for a decent 20/25lb braid?
Cheers
Eoin

Re: SPRO Braid
Sunline Castaway 1.2 for 20lb - which is perfect for bassing. You could go up to 1.5 25lb, but there is no real advantage, the 1.2 is 100% perfect

I used J Braid this year also -the 20lb for bass it was really nice, smooth and cast well. I used the 50lb on the boat no issues

Re: SPRO Braid
I know nothing about Spro but felt I had to post...
Three of our group bought j braid at the beginning of the season. None of us are using it now. It deteriorated very badly to the point that it broke in your hand with little force applied. It resulted in lost fish and plugs. 3 different spools and the same result. It lasted only a few weeks. Bear in mind we fish more than the average angler. My opinion....avoid
I'm using Sufix 832 now. Its not as silky as the fancy Japanese braids but its thin enough and its strength is excellent. Id recommend it...Ill be using it again.

Re: SPRO Braid
I agree with crevan... sufix 832 is pretty good and it's not overly expensive compared to some. It's wonderfully thin and very strong. I had a spot of bother trying to land a big shore Pollack a few weeks ago and got the braid wrapped around some rocks. Afterwards I could see where it was damaged but after pulling for several breaks since, it still hasn't given way. But I really should change it at this stage

I will say - I would not get out I'd say a quarter as much as crevan so his opinion should carry a lot of weight hereCrevan wrote:I know nothing about Spro but felt I had to post...

I have used Daiwa J Braid this year and it gave me no hassle at all. Well worth the money.

Re: SPRO Braid
Suffix 832 can't be beaten on a quality price ratio. It's reliable, knots well, lasts a long time and whilst it certainly is not the best braid on the market, it's superb value given it's relatively low price.

Thanks for all of the replies guys.
I think the local tackle shop has Suffix 832 so might give it a shot.

Re: SPRO Braid
Crevan, I have had the same problem and I could not get my head around it. I actually recommended J Braid earlier in this thread and as soon as I did it started to cause me such problems. I really should have read this thread again before starting my own earlier. I am leaning toward the Sufix Pro 8 myself. Great comment, thanks.
