Lads

Anybody know what species this fish is? Caught in Lanzarote. Guess it was about 5lbs in weight.

I did a bit of digging online. I reckon it is a common dentex.

A baby dentex, they go a lot bigger.
Nice catch all the same I'd say he made a good account of himself 8)
Give a man a fire he will be warm for a night,
Set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

HI

That's an excellent catch from the shore, natives would be thrilled to get something that size. Have caught them on baits cast into the deep gullies on a coming tide on the rock marks but never anything above 2 lbs. Lovely fish well done.

Yeah - agree - Pretty confident with the dentex identification now.
