We've been getting out about once a week for the last few weeks. Fishing has been steady, lots and lots of Huss around, and Smoothies up to Specimen length. Myself, Moody Marlin, and Simon Mac hit the water just before 7 last night, and headed straight for our bass mark to see if there were any about before we anchored up. Simon had 1 schoolie on an Illex Nitro Shad, and I missed one on a BM. With the tides being more suitable for Tope fishing than bass fishing, we decided to anchor up at a favourite mark at about 7.45, and within a couple of minutes we got our first run. For the next 2 hours we had a steady stream of Tope, mostly male in the 15-30lbs range. Our final tally was 13 (i think, it might have been 14), it's just a shame we didn't have another couple of hours light. Great craic.

A couple of pics from recent weeks Johnwest. Last night was fun though. 13 Tope in 120 minutes, averaged a Tope every 9 minutes. I wish we could have stayed out a bit longer.

It was a lovely evening. Fish or no fish, it's very therapeutic being out in the water when the weather is like that. We've had Tope on almost every trip out this year, but that was the first time in 2016 that we found 'the mother load'.
