Re: Favourite lures
Can't go wrong with a Feed Shallow- my most successful lure for bass (not that I have much success . . .)
On the boat over reefs I love putting a 12.5 cm savage gear sandeel on a 60g jighead- it is lethal and accounted for my biggest pollock last year.

Re: Favourite lures
I have never caught a bass on a SG Sandeel, but that is down to me more than anything I'd say. A lot of people here swear by them. I have heard that the pearl white is the best colour.
Pollock don't tend to be as fussy, but the day I caught my big'un last year- the sandeel with the yellow back and orange belly was picking out more and better quality pollock than the others on board.

Re: Favourite lures
Mucho Lucir BBH (Mainly for sea trout)
Green Kilty Lure......deserves its own post really
Fiiish Crazy eel - very good for bass from boat
White Feed shallow - deadly at night for bass.
Duel Aile mag/Illex Bonnie - surface
Honestly I never leave without these.
Honorable mentions :
Fish arrow flash J
SG Sandeel - I havent used much or caught much but seen enough to be converted
Xlayer
Fiiish black minnow - Like the SG, yet to be convinced but no smoke without fire.
If I was told I could only ever use one lure again it would be the Green Kilty lure. Although these days I am using it less and less in favor of plastics, I have caught
so many bass on them its ridiculous. Cast a mile. Work em slow and they still look great, cheap. Proven. What more could ye want.

Re: Favourite lures
Not possible Eoghan, a Bass will only take a lure if its over €25......they certainly wont take a piece of metal for €4.50....... ludicrouseoghanb wrote:Most of the bass and seatrout I've got over the years have been on kilty catchers ,the green one for bass silver for trout and the red is leathal for pollack

Re: Favourite lures
No I dont work for them although you would be forgiven for thinking it.
The German sprat is a classic. In fact I only moved to the kilty as my go to metal long range lure when I couldnt get hold of German sprats. I have caught a lot of fish on them too. Its really all about confidence. Ye start catching on a particular lure then you just dont want to change. It took me a while to get my first bass on a soft plastic. Then once I did I never looked back.

Re: Favourite lures
Never tried the Kilty for some reason.
Based purely on the amount of fish they've caught I'd have to say mine are:
1. IMA Nabarone
2. Savage Gear Pencil Prey (sadly discontinued but lethal for sea trout!)
3. MegaBass Bubbleheader (12 and 18g)
4. IMA komomo 65mm (for sea trout)
5. Tsunami Shock Wave (wedge type lure)

Re: Favourite lures
When I am fishing for bass, it's hard to look past anything candy colour. Quite often colour doesn't seem to have a whole lot to do with it or lure type for that matter; putting in the hours seems to be the best way to get fish. The lures I would mostly use would be:
Sasuke
Ima nabarone
Komomo SF 125
Prey 90
Tide minnow slim 120
Xlayer
