An intelligence led surveillance operation in the South East led to the seizure of nets, fish and the apprehension of two suspects. While Storm Gertrude was doing her worst IFI staff were lying in wait, watching over a net that had been set to catch bass...
When the persons involved attempted to service the net at 4am under the cover of darkness, swift action by the officers involved led to these men being apprehended. These men were cautioned and with the assistance of An Garda Síochána, their details were confirmed. Three bass, nets and other equipment were seized as evidence. A prosecution file is currently being prepared.
