The following link accesses an RTE archive video on most likely the Seiko Shore angling Competition held on the beaches south of Greystones, Co. Wicklow in September 1989, http://www.rte.ie/archives/2014/0903/64 ... tion-1989/
The following month, October 1989 Greystones hosted the European Surfcasting Championships (see attached souvenir brochure front cover).
The latter competition in today's money is worth a local cash injection of at least €100,000 before the positive tourism messages are taken into account.
Wicklow, Greystones and Ireland can have all the above again pending a change in fisheries management approach.
Given that the IFSA website is currently down due to refurbishment work will a senior member of the Leinster Council committee and or the IFSA executive contact me through this post or my website http://www.anirishanglersworld.com or http://www.anirishanglersworld.com/inde ... irca-1989/ re an inshore fisheries management proposal I am trying to gain traction on.
Sincerely,
Ashley

Re: Greystones Competition Sea Angling RTE clip.
Those were the days. I remember I got a 8lb Cod on a 5 foot rod that I got with Green Shields stamps
, fished about 15 feet out on some rag, actually now that I think of it that was in the 70's
, but the fishing was still very good there in the 80's, now its a shadow of its former self, but can still throw up the odd surprise if you stick at it.

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!
