Frozen Bait

#1 Post by Al »

Hey lads was just in the Chinese store beside my work to see if i could get some bait for tomoro, they have frozen Oysters and Green mussels in a half shell and also frozen prawns, the Green mussels are from New Zealand would they be the same as the mussels we get here?I'm not really targeting anything in Particular tomoro was just wonderin if these would be of any use, also there selling frozen soft back green crabs here but its 62 euro for 24 so i dont think i'll be buyin any of them bit to pricey for me!!! Oh yeah and if anyone wants to go in if they need bait its on Abbey Street, Dublin across from the Jervis Centre.
any help is appreciated,
Cheers ,
Al

Hi All,

It can take time before a response comes up on the forum especially when the question is as specific as this one is. Tiger prawns have been recommended to me as a good winter bait for small fish and I have had dabs to them but haven't used them whole lot and I regularly stock up on calamari from the local chinese super market.

The mussels you often see frozen in the chinese stores are ususally green lipped mussels. Different from the ones we have here, but should be equally effective as bait. Experiment. You could be on to a winner....
