Bass bycatch

2/3 boxess with mixed round fish remains plenty of bass in it too, Clogher head on sunday is this allowed?

I suppose the method of catching and who caught is important.

The law of the land should be C&R Jan - Jun. The EU Regulations are not in force yet so technically a 2 fish limit is still the law of the land for anglers. If they were caught by a commercial fisherman then they would be illegal as he should neither target nor retain.

If a commercial I would let my local fisheries officers know. If anglers they should also be educated.

Bass heads look small in the picture, this could mean they're waste from the fishmongers on the pier and probably farmed bass- which is mostly what you see in the shops. Of course they may be illegal but maybe check with the fish monger first.

My thoughts too. The bass are each of very similar size which is consistent to imported farmed bass. The filleting looks like it has been done very cleanly (by a fishmonger). Salmon alone in the container would suggest that it's from a fishmonger or supplier; also, the salmon flesh isn't wild, it's not bright orange and you can see the layers of fat in the meat that is consistent to poor quality farmed salmon. The plastic gloves are a giveaway too.

Ive seen this a few times where boxes have plenty of fish remains bass/salmon that are of the farmed variety[allegedly] and used for pot bait.

Makes sense alright probably from the fishmongers for pot baits

Definitely the fish mongers up at the top of the pier. I get a cup of chowder off them every now and then and it's always in one of those cups that are in the box.
