Who: Just me
Bait: Rag and Mackerel
Time: 6pm-10:30pm
Rigs: Three hook flappers
Result: Flounder, Dab, Coalfish, Pouting? and Whiting.
After getting the bug back from our trip down to wexford a few weekends ago I decided to head out for a session on a Dublin beach. Having not fished it in a while I wasn't sure what to expect. Low water was at around 6pm I think so was fishing on the filling tide.
I got the first rod out and before I had a chance to even look at the second rod I was getting bites. For the first three hours or so I was getting plenty of whiting to 30cm I left one rod out there for a while and was reeling in a fairly heavy weight when it went all light and ended up reeling in a fairly mangled whiting I'm guessing a huss was having a go on it. Put a bigger bait back in the same spot but no joy there. As the tide pushed up the beach I started fishing no more than 5m out and started getting some good flounder bites. I think I ended up with around 12 flounder in the space of 40 minutes to nearly 30cm. No pics unfortunately as the battery on my phone died. I think I got a small pouting as well but not sure.
It was a nice session with a few species as well.

Not a bad haul for Dublin. If it was Killiney you were fishing it may well have been a Huss swinging out of the whiting. The odd good huss does show up there now and then.

Good report hack, wherever you were fishing in Dublin that was a good result, I tend to travel to musnster mainly to fish with not a lot to show for it on occasion, I do tend to ignore Dublin and Wicklow beaches, your report and others tend to prove there is fish to be caught on the east coast.
