After reading a recent thread with particularly excellent comments made by Jim H. and Leon Roskilly I just had to highlight this issue on its own.
If you challenge someone over not returning a big fish and their reply is "Ah sure they've done all their spawning already" tell them to think again.
Bigger fish will produce more eggs and the eggs will be stronger.
