Good topic-Im sure plenty of people will reply who have experience. I've never lure fished at night so I'm not much good to you. The one repeated piece of advice is I see is "slow" -take ages with the retrieve.

focus more on the silhouette rather than colour. Magnetic rattles are a help too... where will you be fishing?

There's 4 short videos in this series, lot of repetition in it, but you might find some of it Interesting or useful.

I wouldn't get worried about colours - the main thing is finding the fish, ie. knowing or learning about your marks and determining at what stage of the tide the fish tend to be there. That is the main part of the battle.

After that you should keep it simple with lures and eg. just bring three, eg:
* a shallow diver plug such as a Feed Shallow (I have had a lot of success in darkness with the pearl rainbow / white if considering colour)
* a stick-bait soft-plastic lure rigged weedless (eg. Slug-go, Savagegear Slug, Waveworm)
* a paddle-tail lure (such as Savagegear Sandeel)

I started writing a night fishing for bass FAQ type document last year for my blog but never published it so it is unfinished and just general guidelines, but if interested here is the unfinished doc:
