Hi Guys
I picked up a Lowrance elite 5 but I decided to just get the device and buy the charts for it at a later stage, however i though i would at least be able to see blue for water and yellow for land on the base maps. The problem is i only see yellow once i zoom down past the scale of say 200km. Above 200Km i can see ireland and the water.
I'd like to be able to zoom down closer to at the very least see the normal coastal regions we have in ireland but even when i'm on the water the device shows me to be on land. I know i won't see contours or any other details, i'm just looking to see blue and yellow and not just yellow.
Did anyone else ever have the same problem? Is there something i could do for the next few months until i can get the Navionics maps?
Cheers
John

Re: Lowrance Elite 5 base map question
Yes, i can see the trail moving and i can navigate to waypoints fine. speed fine, compass all good. Its just the screen is all land, all the time.jw wrote:when you move the unit to different places does the lat and long change?

If i zoom passed the 200km scale there is nothing but land. If i go to the USA and zoom in its fine but Ireland there is nothing at all.
I'm very disappointed. Lowrance called it a base map on the phone. the 200km scale is what they call a base map. The icon for the boat at the scale is the size of Dublin. I spent 20 minutes arguing that a blank screen is not a map, at all and what f#'kin good is using a 200km map for anything!!!
