think mine would have to be my first fly caught bass i caught 6 years ago. it only weighed 2 pounds and was caught on a fly that had more resembilence to me than anything remotely aquatic.was my most memorable catch cuase i was 16 at the time and had got alot of stick from older bait fishermen that i was wasting my time [they subsequewntly caught nothing and i had 2 more bass], it was on a fly i tied myself and it got me hooked on saltwater flyfishing for life.
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Cant help but laugh every time I read this. I felt the exact same on my first Scorpion fish.

Couldn't agree more. I wrote about the octopus because it was in salt water but the fish that will stay with me for ever is........
I was about 10 I think and had been out macky bashing a couple of times with my father. I decided that I wanted to catch a trout and went and bought myself one of those 5 to 6 foot starter rod kits. Got some worms from the garden and off we went for a family day out. We came across a stream with some small trout and off I went. After about 20 Min's without a bite I lost interest and went for a quick walk. On my return I picked up the rod to stick on another worm and found that I had caught a 5 inch eel.
It was (and still is) the biggest fish I have ever seen

Mullet
Mine has to be a 5lb Mullet caught on the mouth of the Margy river in Ballycastle co Antrim it took me by surprise because I was fishing for sea trout at the time with a small peter ross fly and a bubble float after playing this fish for what seemed an eternity I landed it to a round of applause  what I didn't know was a crowd had gathered on the bridge and had watched me play the fish   Just as well I didn't notice them or I would have certainly lost the fish

In Ireland my most memorable catch was night fishing in tralee a few years ago, only went out for an hour or 2 with my buddy Noel, we had 2 pks of ammo sandeel, 11 in each pack, I caught 9 small eyed ray and 2 bass on my 11 eels, and noel had 6 ray and a bass on his.
Outside Ireland my most memorable catches are a 140lb Tarpon off the shore in Marathon in the Florida Keys, and 22 bonefish in 2 hrs off a beach in Cuba.
