behind Mulranny GC, Mayo

#1 Post by kieran »

People: yo

Duration: 1 hour

Tide: high, dropping

Weather: calm and damn cold

Bait: various lures

Rigs: spinning

Results: one follow (hard to see) but no hook ups

Report: Was in Mulranny for a meeting and decided to thrash the water over the rocks behind the golf course for an hour with some hard and soft lures. Probably a bit too late as the water had been dropping for at least an hour or more... Hauled on the waders. Should say road through GC is in rag order and the 'new' (09) car is an estate and did not appreciate it. Will be walking from now on...

Rocks were very slippery, beautiful night if cold. Very calm conditions, practically no swell which is far from ideal but was not expecting much. Wasn't disappointed. Think I got one distinct hit, seemed to be a big swirl on a surface lure (rapala) - hard to tell as it was a fair distance out - but that was it for the night. Buggered off home after an hour... have a tiny hole to repair in the waders!

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
