fly fishing around clonakilty

#1 Post by lumpy »

people: me and a couple of friends

[b]Duration:3 hours

[b]Tide:LW 8.20

[b]Weather:sunny with a very light sw breze.

[b]Bait: bendback decievers, popovich surf candys, zonker fry.

[b]Rigs:n/a

[b]Results:3 pollock between 1 1/2 and 3Lbs

[b]Report:

beautiful evening to be out. second fly session of the summer, at last some relatively descent fish to be coughtg. had a 6-7 lb pollock tail my fly for about 15 yards, but unfortunatly didnt take. had to fish a 12lb tippet because of the clarity in the water which is alot lighter than my usual 20 lb tippet, 12 pound has very poor abrasion resistance, end up having to change tippets any time you get snagged.

Hey hey. Where were you fishing Lumpy? Have you tried the rocks at Dunworley, I've had a fair bit of success from the ledges to the left hand side (as you look to sea) of the slip. Sea trout, bass and pollock.
Seems to be best on a dead calm evening at the last hour or so of sunlight.
