Leg 1 of the West Coast Shore League, hosted by Galway Bay Sea Angling Club, 24th of Jan. Check in 16.00 on Renvyle beach. Fishing 17.00 to 21.00.

Congratulations to Galway Bay SACs own Stephen O'Sullivan on winning leg 1 of the Cartys Land and Sea Sports West Coast Shore League http://landandseasports.ie/

In weedy conditions and large swells Stephen had 10 dogfish, Ed Kilroy of Corrane SAC had 10 fish in 2nd with some coalies and a ray added to the mix. Fiacra McKenna also of Corrane SAC, was 3rd with 8 fish including dogs, coalies and a ray.

For each leg of the league Cartys are providing a rod to €150 value to the overall winner and vouchers of €40 for 2nd and €30 for 3rd per zone - many many thanks

Sounds like good fishing in the conditions, nice to see a few rays turning up.

if you could get your bait out and for it to stay in the one place for 10 mins you had a chance of a fish

but the swells were big and there were stalks of weed all over the place - there were stones and gravel on the road up from it - the sea a melting pot for a good while by the looks of things
