Wexford whiting wonderland 29/12/14

#1 Post by bigsod »

People:dbrock and yours truly

Duration:6hrs

Tide:hw 11am

Weather:cold, some cloud cover, little or no wind

Bait:mackerel, squid and crab

Rigs:flappers, clip downs and pulleys

Results:whiting many up around the 40cm mark, codling to 48 cm, flounder to 36 cm and dabs to 32 cm

Report:
The annual Christmas fishing trip, what can I say, couldn't have picked a better day. The whiting were biting and the flats were not small, even the odd codling was playing ball. Dbrock was smiling like a Cheshire Cat while he was pulling in the whiting fat. I was happy to be playing with my new toy while reeling in casts that brought great joy. We left after a great day with lots for the dinner and plenty to say. We will be back again soon hoping for the same, maybe next time with drummer who likes to complain.

I'll get my coat. Happy new year to everyone and tight lines in 2015

Some good sized fish there, I'm particularly impressed with those 40cm whiting, never got anywhere near that size from the shore.

We were down the 30th, lads had fresh crab all aaround us and we used fresh lug, the crab was getting nothing. We went home with lovely fat cod and whiting, had shrimp that some one left behind and they got us huge flats.....
