Report: After a plan to head to Wexford fell through I decided on a local session to scratch the itch. Hadn't been out in a good while so was happy to get out and go through the motions but ended up having a surprisingly busy session.
Got to the beach at 20.00 and had a crab baited pulley in the water moments later, was in the process of setting up rod No.2 when I saw my rod tip get a good wollap. Reeled in the first Coalie of the night. Baited up a three hook flapper with a fresh lug, black wrap and squid cocktail I threw only a few yards out (Was being cautious as the beech in question has pretty rough ground). Flapper was only in the water before the rod tip got a good knock and stayed buckled over, turned out to be a double of Coalie and a codling. Was looking like a promising session.
Fishing was hectic on the rising tide with a few fish, few missed bites and one nice fish dropped in the first breaker(Fairly sure it was a codling).
Fishing dropped off completely after High Water and after throwing everything at I only had one more coalie on the dropping tide. Surprisingly I didn't loose one rig or even get snagged which makes me wonder how much the seabed has changed on this beech. Very enjoyable night especially for East Coast fishing.
If anyone's planning on fishing there I came down the steps and walked about 150/200 yards to the left (there's a big dip in the cliff face behind you there) and had snag free fishing in close and at distance.

Cheers Alan, yeah there seems to be a good stamp of fish on that beach alright and funnily enough I've never seen a soul fishing it. Killiney and Shankill are my go to beaches for a handy local session and seem to throw up a few fish all year round.tight lines wrote:Well done tim nice session was out that way on coburn lane last week and had some nice coalie and codling plenty big enough for the pan so not always nessarury to head south in search of a few desent fish

hI good session and thanks for the report. I used to fish there years ago and as you say it was a graveyard for gear. Nice one.
Too many lures ... not enough time...
