What hooks are you using?

#1 Post by Killary »

Just wondering what the current favorite model and sizes of hook that people are using.... so many now to choose from, and especially when I look online.... I've been using Eagle Claw lazer sproat worm hooks size 1/0 upwards and various others for sizes smaller than 1/0. I have always bought a loads of hooks every time I go shopping so I'm probable a bit out of touch with whats out there now.... any suggestions?

My personal favourite is the Mustad 33751BL in 1/0 or 2/0

Great for presenting big baits like crab.

These are the 3 hooks i use. the Sakuma and Cox & Rawls are incredibly strong and stay sharp for a good while. The only negative i fing with the Kamasan is they not as corrosion resistant as the other 2, but i still love them as a general bait hook.

Mine has been Varivas Big Mouth for boat fishing over rough ground . Target species mainly pollack but always the chance of something bigger .
It seems that you can only get the larger sizes 1/0 + from Veals . Postage makes them too expensive to order on their own .
If anyone is familiar the Varivas and could say which of the earlier suggestions are the closest equivalent that would be great .
Cheers

All depends what your targeting, and what bait your using, but owner cutting point ssw 511 are the best hook I've ever used. Gamakatsu f314 are excellent, tubertini series 2 also very good.
