Report:was only miny fishing for most of the evening as what I really wanted was a few mack to show but they did not come, its been a terrible season for mack in Wicklow, yhe worst iv ever known, have only got 14 in total, anyway the reason im putting this report up is as a warning to my fellow anglers,so let me begin my tale of woe at about 8 o clock I reeled in what I thought was weed as no bite was detected but on the end of my line was an octopus, one of many iv got of Wicklow pier over the years I proceeded to remove the hook when it latched onto my hand, gripped me with a vengeance and bit me with its beak,3 seconds later I got a alful pain in my hand and it was a major job to remove the beast, by now my head was spinning I felt sick and had to sit down for a good half anhour before I felt well enough to go home,,by this time my hand had doubled in size and on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 8 my wife wanted me to go to hospital but I rang the care-dooc and went to him 5 mins after making the call,he was on the ball and had gooled it so the treatment for the venom is treated the same as the sting off a weaver as hot as a man or woman can stant, then anti histamine, anti inflameterys and pain killers,a week later and the swelling has just about gone so you have been warned heres the pic, taken an hour after
Nasty ,,,,,,,,no more handling octopi for us then ,,,,,,there must be some use for the venom,,,,,,maybe as an alternative to your weekly Botox injections!
