a big Thank you to all the anglers who fished the biggest ray in the bay and helped to support the rnli lifeboats,great to see so many anglers on the day
thank you to the Galway Buccaneers Sea Angling Club and Galway Bay Sea Angling Club members who fished
Well over 60 thornback ray were caught and released on the day
also a big thank you to sweeney oil,guys bar,cleggan sea angling,bluewater fishing and actons garage who sponsored some of the prize money

the first prize of €500 went to
Martin O Connor co Meath with a thornback ray which measured 54cm from wing to wing

Second prize of €250 went to first time sea angler
Danny Vaughen.from clifden with a thornback ray of 53cm

Third place went to welsh angler Iorri Griffiths with a thornback ray of 52cm

the weather conditions were perfect on the day,sunny and light winds even some of the anglers got a bit of a tan after the day
well done to the youngest angler who took part,6 year old oby o hara

we have been contacted already by 2 people about sponsoring the biggest ray in the bay next year so we will fill everyone in when we have more details
if anyone else would like to help out with prizes for next year please let me know

also if anyone has any ideas for a fishing competition in the Connemara area please let me know as well
if anyone is interested in fishing next year pm me your email and i will send you details when we know more
