World's largest marine foods plant to be built in Donegal

Plenty of winners will arise out of this new project.

Jobs for hard pressed families, rejuvenated communities, new opportunities for existing businesses, and more tax revenue for the government.

Surely there has to be a looser in there somewhere.
Sadly I suspect it will be the marine world that will bear that unwanted title.

Thinking the same myself it's a kind of glorified fishmeal plant. But then again there wont be any more fish caught than at present it just means they will be worked here instead of being carried all the way to Skagen in Denmark and Egursund in Norway which is what is done with the Boarfish and Blue whiting at present

Maybe the article is misleading, it does say food ingredients plant.

Good point. If Ireland had some onshore development even remotely like this back in the 1970s and 80s, our fisheries might not have been surrendered so cheaply to Europe.
