Lahinch/liscannor

#1 Post by Conger »

We took a drive this morning down around Lahinch and liscannor for a nosy, all I can say is that it is a scene of utter destruction, it's some reminder of the power of the sea, took a few shots and video will try and post up later. One of my favorite marks has just been obliterated on the up side the storm might have created a few new marks

we were heavily battered up here as well Conger. Belfast got away relatively lightly but the east Antrim coast got the highest tides and waves seen in a lifetime. plenty of damage and 'alteration of the coastline'!..
met a couple of guys fishing yesturday hoping that fish would be about looking for scraps left by the storm   they had blanked over a few hours though

The weather has taken its tole here in the west too. in achill a trawler was sunk in at the pier the waves picked it up turned it upside down and another wave sunk it again. There is at least 4/5 curraghs gone missing. But bits of canvas and wood are comming in on the shore. 40ft Containers thrown around like toy boxs. I was out at mulrannny down the pier road and there is about 50/60tone of stone covering the road. the pier is not to badly damaged but the road is ripped up and the floor of the pier is all missing the concrete . Hopefully tonight will be much calmer .

Here are some pictures of Lahinch seafront , Doolin car park and Fanore beach in that order . Amazing the power of the sea.
There is a beach clean up in Lahinch on Sat and Sunday at 1030am and another in Ballybunnion also this weekend.
I believe there is to be a fishing comp in aid of the rescue building repair fund in the future too!

Unreal! we got away with murder on the east cork coast compared to the damage elsewhere. I hope the damage won't affect ye're fishing too much up west and that the government and the insurance companies sort out the local residents.
