I heard a whisper that the Board of IFI recently set up an angling sub committee of the Board. I believe that there may be 5 on this sub committee. They would, of course, all be game anglers as there are only game anglers on the Board.
Under the 2010 Inland Fisheries Act the Board of IFI can appoint outsiders to sub committees. On behalf of IFPAC I have contacted IFI requesting that the co-opt angling reps from pike, sea, coarse feds to get a small degree of balance.
Who knows

At present I would think it would be very much the A team. There are 5 members on the sub committee and they make up 50% of the full Board of IFI. The Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs ( IFPAC) have written to the full Board of IFI suggesting that the sub committee co-opt a pike angler, a coarse angler and a sea angler to give a little balance to the sub committee as its currently made up of only game anglers. Whether IFI act on our suggestion remains to be seen.
I received a letter today from Inland Fisheries Ireland. A new committee has been set up but its not an angling sub committee but a development sub committee. The sub committee will deal with all elements of development not just angling. They do want to develop a " National Angling Development Plan" and have told us (Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs, IFPAC ) that they would invite us to the March meeting of the sub committee to hear our views on pike angling and its development. They added that they would also like to invite other federations in.
I would welcome the idea of a National Development Plan I dont think its good enough for IFI to just consult representatives of the stakeholders I think we should all draw up the plan together as partners.
