100 euro budget

after looking arounnd forums i came to the conculsion that i may get a the tronix pro rockfish 7-28 g how do ye find this rod ? or the lure game 5-25 g is there much of a difference ? and it looks like i may pair these with a rovex ceratec 4000 or has anyone any other ideas ? and what do ye make of these rods ?

Haven't used those rods but I suspect that a 4000 size reel might be a bit bulky on either of them. I'd imagine a 2500 or 3000 would probably be a better bet. A surecatch salty rod would be worth considering if bass lure fishing is what you intend to use it for.

yaa your right ill have a look around

intend to have it as a general wide spread id like to be able to just follow the rocks with it and a lure on the end and just put it out there but id mainly be in search or bass and pollack

how much is that surecatch roughly do you know ?

Either of those rods might be exactly what you are looking for. I just couldn't say as I haven't used them but the reviews seem excellent. The surecatch can be had for somewhere in the region of €55-€60. The 7ft is rated 7-25g and the 8ft is 10-50g. Santy will be bringing me another one

there are lots of good inexpensive rods out there and I'm sure other lads will have different recommendations. It's great to have options

Shimano catana is a very good reel. The 2500 would be a good match for those rods.

If its bass and pollack your after and €100 is your top limit consider the Shimano Vegeance range of rods (there is a few).

Reels such as Shimano Catana or Daiwa Sweepfire will be fine, About the 3000 size.

You might even have change for braid and some tippet if you shop about.

Other options is to wait in the hope for a second hand setup or wait a while and spend a little more.

id looking for something lighter want something for soft plastics and maybe the odd surface lure

looks like i might go tronix rockfish or the surecatch and reels ive narrowed it down to the Shimano Catana,Shimano exage 2500 or the rovex certac 2000 im not sure whether 2000 or 3000 atm what ye think ?

Where you from mate.
If in around Waterford check out
Absolute fishing like another guy said.
He is in Tramore and very very helpful from the first time angler to the pro.

There's rods on his shop from €40 shimano which is an unreal rod for that price and a spectacular lure shop.
He has an online shop also with all orders over €50 free delivery next day.
Myself and lots in here use him.
It's your own preference but he set me straight from day one when other sellers just wanted a sale.
So I can't falter him.
Type of guy who would actually phone ya to go fishing to.

You'll find that the Surecatch rod will be a better all rounder than a Vengance.

In the budget rod ranges, I personally own the surecatch salty 8ft 10-50g ( 7ft 7-25g is ordered too), Abu devil 8ft 10-30g, shimano vengance 8ft 20-60g and a 7ft Abu vendetta 10-30g. I rate them in the order listed above. While the vengeance is a lovely rod, its worth spending the extra 10 or 15 Euro on the salty in my opinion. The devil costs 22 quid and is an absolute dinger of a rod for that money ! The vendetta looks the business and is well built but to be honest, I can't warm to its action.

You should consider the Blackrock range of lure rods. I have the Akita 10-50g and the Bass Attack 10-50g and I find them excellent. They're about €70. I spotted the Bass Attack 7-35gm in East Cork Bait & Tackle during the week and it looks great. I might even get it myself!

Must call up to Paul and have a look at those. I got a blackrock hellboy from him for travelling and it's a grand rod for a multisection.

i have the tronix rod there great very light and great tip i use it for macky bashen great fun with it ive had 5 mackreal at once with it as in reel size i went down to 1000 size shimano cantana with whiplash braid on it and found the 1000 size reel i was getting a lot of knots in the braid so i put the 2500 shimano cantana back on and its a great set up with either 20 pound braid or 14 pound sufix i even bought a reel for ten euro s in fishing shop in cobh with only bearing in it cause it was nice and light i also bought a rovex 2000 ceratec but its to heavy for the rod u cant go wrong with 2500 shimamo catana fd ,ialso have the daiwa sweepfire its heavy for its size and not great the addiction contuines

ill have to have a look at the surecatch salty the devil and the tronix lure game had a look at the vegance but seems like its made for casting 20-60g from reading online euro id really say anything over 60 be a push unless anyone can recommend a good cheap reel because atm im set on the exage or the cantana jsut had a look at the sweepfire looks a good reel aswell and cheap

Shimano Vengance 10 to 50g is what i use now and i wouldnt look past them. Fantastic rod for €40, and it will fish well with any of the regular shallow divers or soft plastics. Unless you are going to fish very light this in my humble opinion would be the best for the price.

what weight would you consider extreme light as i said im looking for a rod that i can rig a small sp and a jig head to and walk all day long with it but still be able to cast 15-20 g safely enough
