pier donegal bay

People:myself and ray

Duration:6 hours

Tide:low to high

Weather:cold slight northly breeze

Bait:mussel mack squid sandeel

Rigs:one up one down running leadger

Results:first blank of the year




Report:weather excelent cold but settled flat calm sea
crabs on the rampage striping the hooks from the start first time fishing this mark will have to give it a go in the spring for the reported tope that are caught from this pier

Hard luck on the blank but always nice to get out;-)
Species 2015::: dogfish, whiting, codling..........

Good to get out, sure we can't catch fish sitting in the arm chair..

2019 species; ballan wrasse,blonde ray, coalfish, cod, cuckoo wrasse, dab, dogfish, flounder, goldsinny wrasse, ling, mackerel, plaice, pollack, poorcod, pouting, scad, sea scorpion, spotty ray, spurdog, thornback, tub gurnard, turbot, whiting.

We'll done on the blank, 8) your first of the year, at least it's out of the way and at this time of year it may not be the last. Hopefully the colder weather will send the crabs into hiding and the fish can actually find the bait

Some whitting going of that pier to at night but very small! Floating beads all the way! When the tide is going there it pulls your gear out with it towards the tope hole!
