People: me fein

Duration: 19.45 to 23.15

Tide: dropping

Weather: cold to freezing, no wind

Bait: fresh peeler and rag

Rigs: 2 hook clipped, 3 hook flapper

Results: bass 42, flounder 21, 22, 24 and 26cm

Report: after a serious weekends fishing with chuckaroo and the fishing gods smiling on me i knew i had to get out last night. after reading dans report of using up bait i was hoping for something remotely similar

with the mild weekend i was figuring there wouldnt be the raft of weed normally on the southern beaches - the accuweather had it that the wind was to pick up from the NW

so i thought there would be a bit of surf and the conventional wisdom is that the chop is good on this venue - however it wasnt on the rise - but not much you can do about that

as i got out of the car i knew straight away - the sound of the sea was very low
as i got over the dune i saw this beach calmer than i had ever seen it before

but what the hell here i was away i go

it became clear that it was going to be cold - i had the football socks inside the waders
the hands were numb after baiting up

nothing at the bit of distance but in close a flounder on the other rod - blank gone
then - to rag - no weed at all - it was very clean

out with more crab on a flapper - no result
in with the other rod rag - and another flounder

was begining to think i was wasting the peelers in this situation

i didnt put a shock leader on the lighter rod and got a huge knot from a stalk of weed that was buried and was exposed as the tide went i out

i decided i would leave the one rod out and undo the knot - bad idea - after 10mins i was freezing - both the hands were like blocks of cement - 5 mins more i was getting colder - but got the knot out - but i decided i was leavin - too cold

anyways i had a rig ready from earlier so i said id cast it out on the light rod cast it out
brought in the other rod - fluonder on

broke this down and and brought in the other rod - flounder on
i had another trace still with the crab on from earlier and i said - why not lets throw it out - while i put away all the rest of it
not even 10 mins out and brought it in with a nice little fight on the 15lb line a 42cm bass
nicely hooked in the scissors and off he went again after a quick pick

no bass in 2 years and 6 in 3 days - how bad 8)
