east ferry

People:myself and short circuit

Duration:
7:30-10 pm
Tide:
low tide at 9
Weather:
good
Bait:
crab ,savage gear sandeels
Rigs:
pennel
Results/b]:

blank


Report:
after two blanks already at east ferry i decided to give it another go 15-20 mins what i reckon was bass making an attempt to hit my lure (heavy splash in water) was the only excitement untill about half 9 when i got a definite interest in the crab after a couple of tugs from the fish i lifted the rod one last tug when it was in my hand went to reel in and all went slack no fish im jw has anyone any advice when fishing here i know they say keep trying but just isnt looking good will have to give it another go all the same :)

Best advise for East Ferry is to fish some place else !!!
Cod season Winter 2013/14: 117 cod (best fish: 6.5 lbs)
Cod season Winter 2014/15: 193 cod (best fish: 4.25 lbs)

thought about it rockhunter but watching jim put up pic after pic on fb of his catches ill have to pull one from there first and the fact its the only place ive gotten to talk to someone who catches there regularly and got advice from if you wanna donate a mark to a young fella going for his 4th possibe blank this weekened itll be savagely appreciated :)

I blanked an AWFUl lot more than 4 times before I learned where and when to fish for bass ;) I suppose there was no internet then.... Jaysus, I sound old :) !!

yaa ive a new spot there im hoping to try tomorrow after spending a bit cycling by the water :) just to see how it goes now is the next thing :) is a 2/0 pennel to small for bass ? and is it to big for flatties ? :L

just wanna say sound for all the pms,,, going to give it a go on Wednesday seems im better off to kinda move up or down from the church any more advice from people who've fished here before be highly grateful :)

When fishing in east ferry u should excpect to wet a line , and a ball of lead to hit the seabed and if ur lucky some sea weed.
Its useless that place

jw anyone got any better spots ? it seems like nowhere worth fishing atm apart from youghal for cod ....

Neap tides next weekend should see some nice fish in the Waterford/East cork estuaries, Waterford, Youghal, Dungarvan etc...

is it the same set up for conger off the ferry then it is off the boats ? do i need to cast from the pier ?

a boat definatly helps,had fine size thornie at the mouth once and bass are caught there occaisionally but usually fall to boat anglers...i had a pollock chase my sidewinder right into my sight and loose interest at the start of the summer..
i will catch something there from shore tho sometime!

East Ferry, isn't a total dead loss - here's a list of species I've had from there:- conger (s), ballan wrasse, corkwing wrasse, goldsinny wrasse, rockling (s), blenny, poor cod, pollack (s), coalfish (s), whiting, codling (s), tub gurnard, bass (s), thick lipped mullet (s), thornback ray, lsd (s), flounder (s), seatrout (s), mackeral (s), scad....and on lures I've had bass, ballan wrasse, pollack, coalfish, codling, tub gurnard, seatrout, and mackeral.
Why not join Cobh SAC - looking for new members....

All the ones marked (s) were caught from the shore aswell as boat.
