Wicklow Silver 06/10

#1 Post by Kgarr »

People: Myself CiaranG

Duration:18-23.00

Tide:HT @ 00.30

Weather:glad I brought the shelter!

Bait:Peeler,rag,squid

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:Bass,Whiting

Report: Got tired of blanking SWFF so broke the monotony with the old reliable Abu!! Second cast at distance resulted in a hard take, followed by a slack liner, reeled in to that sweet downward pull of a decent fish, plenty of fight from this lad, furious head banging! Quick snap , celebrations and CiaranG sent him back to grow some more. CiaranG caught the only other fish of the night, a whopper whiting by our east coast standards, easy 35cm I'd say, but I'd no measure. Hope they're all that size this winter. Missed a big take towards the end of the night, took a peeler right off the hook the sly old fox, plenty of 'should haves' and 'but what ifs' but sure it's those experience that keep us coming back for more

Looking forward a few more bait sessions as the winter moves in. :D :D :D

I don't think I've ever caught a whiting that big from the shore. Nice one!

Caught at distance on half a frozen peeler tipped with a strip of squid.
Must try this spot again soon, the whiting come in in biblical plagues around winter, it'd be nice to see if the regular size has increased from matchstick to the 30's!Image
