Skerries squiddin

#1 Post by eoghanb »

On the bucket list a few years, finally got the chance to catch my first of 5 squid, interesting fishing I had to learn as I went I'd say I lost at least double what I landed but a great session all the same and the best bit was the bashers had all gone home, still plenty of macks about though

All were got on a tronixpro jig ,I fished it on a single paternoster with a small weight on the bottom ,short casts about 20 meters and a slow gentle jig done the job ,if you fish with two people it would help sometimes 5 or 6 were following it

That looks great. Are they all around our coast? How did you know they were there? Amazing the different types of fishing to be done

Good stuff Eoghan,,must give it a bash myself.
Saw plenty of large squid landed this time of year off Fenit viaduct, one lad had half a fish box full.

I'd say just look at a well lit area for a while you should see them if they are there ,but I'd say they should be in most areas apparently they don't like too much current in the water, but I'm a complete novice I learned on the spot last night, but water clarity is important I'd say as they are sight feeders
