I think you're right Rory; goldfish don't normally have barbels. Still an impressive fish though.

It's a Koi Carp they come in many colours and scale patterns as they are an ornamental fish and were bred by the Japanese for stocking in garden ponds. The best strains sell for thousands at auction. These days some fisheries managers insist on stocking all sorts of ornamental species in their lakes including actual goldfish!
