which rod?

#1 Post by col »

Hi, Iv'e decided to buy a travel beachaster, I won't expect too much from it but am hoping you folk can help me decide. Mainly for cleanish beach work with about 3/4/5oz.

Iv'e gotten down to 3 but any other suggestions are welcome.

1: Fox trek beach 11.5ft (6pc) 100euro (shop)
2: Veals "SureTravel" Beach https://www.veals.co.uk/acatalog/Other-rods.html 140euro
3: Shimano beastmaster stc surf 13.5ft (7pc) around 200euro.

Veals said their one over the fox, but do you think they are just trying to shift their own name/merchandise?
Would only go for the shimano if it was highly recomended as its a bit steep for me.

Anyone any thoughts on this? Seen/tried/heard anything on the above rods?

Thanks,

col

Glengormley-Gavin recently bought the Penn jetstream travel beachcaster.

Think he may have put a review on it in the tackle section. Saw him out fishing with it once, think he was well impressed.

You knows it Lee :D

Great rod - does what it says on the tin - AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY 2 PIECE ROD. Comes in a rigid carry tube to bring on your travels.

I pulled a sizeable LSD out of the rocks up at glenarm and it was a piece of cake with this rod.

Casts well too.

Only thing is - it is £175, I got it on ebay at a lot less - I defo touched lucky....

Thanks all, the jet stream at 290euro is too much for me, I would be looking for something that goes smaller anyway. It does seem a lovely rod though.

Unfortunately I just missed out on Ronalds rod by an hour or two and am kicking myself now. Ah well.

A fladen maxximus travel beach,12ft, (6pc) has been suggested.

Just wondering if anyone knows much about this brand, price with postage is 150euro.
