Maybe this warm week has brought them in? I see the temps are to drop again by the weekend. Would this push them out again?

mackerel

#4 Post by kieran »

Hi

Yes, have to agree with Steve, they have been around all winter in small shoals if you know where to go, deep water and a sheltered bay are the keys. Had them around Mayo all through the spring, not lots but there...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Got a couple from the rocks around tramore on Tuesday. Southerly gale force 8 yesterday so I went out with the camera to get some pics and the rocks at Boatstrand were covered with mack bashers.
The waves were close on 20 feet out there.
