Report:

Well this trip was planned since march so it was a long time coming.we landed at Bellavista about 8 pm and got checked in and met Kevin and Jim C for a chat about the conditions and our marks.the 2 las gave us great info and tips.we hard a early start with b/f at 7 and kevin had us on the water after 8am.he had us teamed up with a lovely warrior 175 and suzuki 100hp which was a miller to go.quick stop in the harbour where kevin said the mack would be and they were thick with mack.fully strings every drop and we had our big buckets full in 30 mins id say.we steamed out past the lings maybe 5 --6 miles which was easy with such a fast boat.dubby in d water straight away and kept it fresh and just over the hour mark we had our first run, Jim said to keep the rubby dubby going out every 15-20 mins which was a excellent move i probably would have left it longer but the tip worked a treat.it dropped the middle bait and grabbed the next inside bait, I was drawn for the first shark so I tightened own into it and fish on then.after a nice fight we got it in and it was 53" .a nice size to start with and get used to lifting them in.after a bit Steve was into a whopper which wasn't interested in coming in.we were watching steves line and suddenly a blue shot straight in for the dubby and turned at the last minute.we nearly s**t ourselves,so quick thinking by mike he had a bait in the water and 2 mins later we had a double hook up,with a bit of chopping and changing we got steves big blue in over the gunnel it was 72" inch so not far off 100 lb we thought.quick few pictures and she was on her way.now it was mikes turn his blue was still waiting to get in as he had to leave in the rod holder to get steves in. anyway we got his in and another good blue 65" this time.we were buzz now the wind changed about 2 pm and turned bit nasty.we were about to pack in and I got a run on the near rod which wasn't a huge spool so quick haul in of the other rods as i was getting spooled and mike drove after the fish to get line back in .eventually got her in before it got too wild.69" blue so my biggest yet.great first day and we had a long steam back in but worth it.sunday started slowly with a bit of scratching in a few marks just with mack and dogs to show so at low tide we headed for our conger mark and it produced about 6/7 nice congers and we lost about as many with one savaging a 125lb trace.it was a great bit of sport to finish off a class weekend.big thanks to Kevin in Bellavista and Jim C for the pointers we were well looked after with pack lunches and all.its a great service with them self drive boats we will be regulars in Bellavista for sure now.looking forward to the next trip.anyone interested in getting after blues it's the spot to be, with great boats to get after the your target fish.that will keep me going for a while anyway
