Re: North clare
I never leave from north clare without a good days fishing for wrasse and pollock. i find you must be willing to move and change tactics also I have often caught pollock spinning on beaches in about 4 foot of water. Pollock always surprise and that is why they are my favourite. that's just me though.folanf2 wrote:nice fishing north clare isn't always as good with the pollack!

Re: North clare
From the short time I managed to spend in clare this year the pollack have not been as good or as widespread as usual.folanf2 wrote:nice fishing north clare isn't always as good with the pollack!
On my second trip I did managed to find both quality and quantity but they required more work looking for them. The distribution of a good average size fish seems altered this year.
Most of the fish I caught were very hungry and nearly all of them engulfed any lure in their way. I saw very little baitfish in the water and very few gannets patrolling the shore.
I had about twenty fish in under an hour one evening but nothing of any size using a size 2 hook on a savagegear jig head and sandeel slug. I may have lost some better fish due to the tiny hook but the same mark has produced fish to around eight pounds with an average fish of 2-4lb in all of the last three years.
I did however get smashed up time and time again on 24lb flourocarbon very close in, they were good fish possibly wrasse but from the ones I landed more likely to be big pollack, I hope my mate got some go pro footage of some of them.
The Truth is often stumbled upon by men, most of whom pick themselves up and hurry along as if nothing ever happened.

Re: North clare
Redzer has been busy but he was out a few days with me last week and had a few fish, it was 'surethings' but I dont know what he got on video, we had a crazy couple of hours where i was getting hit every cast and he was landing them for me, conditions were kind of rough and we had to leave the mark when spray was getting to be like waves.agardiner22 wrote: if its surethings you are on about he has some nice vids, but not as many as last year.
