Kilpatrick,20th July

#1 Post by FRANK1 »

6 members of Stella Maris Sac

7 - 12

Crab,mack,eel,lug,rag,black,razor,

Clips and trailers

Hounds - 4.5 , 5.5 and pup , dabs ,flounders,weavers and a schoolie next morning

We had originally planned to fish at the mound in Ennareilly but I heard a well known club were having a comp there starting an hour before ours.We decided to fish Kilpatrick and it worked out really well as we brought the kids and camped in comfort close to the beach .

Quiet enough start with a few undersize dabs .Then it picked up and we got larger flounder to 28 and dabs plus a couple of bonus gurnard to all of 20 cm .It was slow enough then until darkness and just like when the tea is poured (or in this case the barbeque was lit) the Bolger rod hopped and we had a mad 5.5lb hound tearing line .Later got a 4.5 and that was it until a pup came in last cast for tid.

The obligatory bonfire and toasted marsmallows for the kids and a good kip was had .

In the morning I walked the beach at 7.30 and got the goo to fish again after talking to a guy fishing who said he saw bass the previous week .I fished 8 - 11 am and got a schoolie, dabs and a lot of weavers .Place must be full of them .

The rest of them eventually got up so another barbq breakfast and hit the road at 13.00 .Nice .Worth being knackered for a few days .

There was a firebrigade engine up the beach when we got there near some camper vans ..Beware of the dry areas .Very easy to start a fire .

Hi ya Frank,

We were on ennerielly alright, plenty of room for both of us if you'd fancied!

I think you made the right decision though....The fishing was awful patchy on ennerielly, was won with 4 fish!!

Hi Alby,

I reckoned you would have had the area around the mound well covered .We were happy enough to move anyway as 2 birds with one stone when we did the campng bit with the kids .

The winning of ours was 8 fish with one undersize .Amazing not a single lsd around .

I heard ye had a late start with the sunworshippers around .Hope they werent all in the nuddie down there ..
