People:mè féin
Duration:a couple of hours each session
Tide:neaps
Weather:blistering sun & heat, clear water, not much wave activity
Bait:N/A
Rigs:various hard & soft plastic lures
Results:nothing
Report:I had something swipe at my surface lure an hour and a half before the top of the tide. I saw a few fish moving and jumping but I'm not sure what they were. I'm not going to fish Saturday night or Sunday morning. I'll save myself for the spring tides next weekend.
I was speaking to two Cornish lads at breakfast this morning and they had one lost fish (that straightened a hook) between them. They also said they'd only heard of another lad or two catching the very odd fish.
Anyone else hear any reports of the festival?

I went out to do a bit of spinning this morning 6-9 am in Waterford and had similar results, no follows, no swipes, no tugs. But it was a beautiful morning so wasn't really too put out

One of the guys with spear guns had at least 8 bass strapped to his back according to a friend of mine
. These guys will have to be stopped or they will clean the place out. If anybody see them please ring the fisheries. Think I will be bringing some lures with serious trebbles on them . Hope they have armour plated wetsuits

I fished the Festival from friday morning until this afternoon, had two fish to 61 cm Friday morning before low water and didn't see a fish until Sat night about midnight at low water had a Pollack a schoolie Bass and 58cm Bass . Sunday morning not a sign of a bass flat calm sea and a bright sky made sure of that. The fishing was very tough I was lucky to get those fish IMO .
If I'm not gonna catch a fish , I may aswell not catch a BIG fish !

Re: Waterford, Bass festival, 5th & 6th July
Hi,
I went to Bannow By yesterday in search of my first Bass. Fished for 4 hours (2 Hours before High tide and after) not a bite!
No sign of any Bait in the water either. Water was crystal clear. I am a Lure person
Not sure if i am in the right place to catch my first bass. Travelled quite a way too! Am i in the right place? I am not farmiliar with the area in Wexford any help would be greatly appreciated to help me get my first Bass Lure Fishing.
Also what winds are best for increasing chances?

I hear Bannow is good for a chance of a bass and in my humble opinion you'd be best fishing it under light to moderate South West, South or South east breezes.
