Steyning 2013-Andrew G breaks the magic 300!!

Just got news from Paddy in Steyning, Andrew's just cast 278 meters which is 304 yards, on the 100grm.

Really outstanding achievement, that's the first ever 300 yard cast for an Irishman and puts Andy in a very small circle of casters worldwide to attain such a massive distance.

Paddy also cast 250m which is a PB on that lead, fantastic stuff.

Results for the Irish lads at the moment:

The first Round of the 125 is currently under way and Andrew has just done 274m!

There are two more casts on this lead and that will be it for the day. 150 and 175grm leads tomorrow.

Conditions at Steyning have turned out to be much tougher than yesterday, rain and cross winds have brought distances down considerably and the best casts are in the 250's.

Andrew is there with 250m on the 150grm.

Paddy put his final cast on the 150grm in teens after banging two outta court and Cracko unfortunately has retired with a leg injury. Hopefully he can still manage to cast in the last round.

The 175grm has just commenced, there will be three rounds on this lead and then one final round where everyone has choice of lead.

Andrew is well up there in the overall standing.

Andrew has put down 229m on the first round of the 175grm which is also the longest on that lead at the moment.

Paddy says its pretty hard going with the conditions, he is only around the 210m mark himself.

Andrew just had a 230m on the second last cast of the 175grm, Paddy's not sure exactly but Andrew is in the top two or three overall going into the final round..
Paddy had a 209m but conditions are fairly rough, the strong wind is blowing right across the court and rain is on and off.

Its all over Andrew Gormley has taken first place overall at Steyning.

Incredible stuff, massive congratulations. It is without doubt one of the biggest club casting events of the year anywhere.

What a weekend,, it was amazing to witness Andrew blast many a lead past the 300 mark,
a long time due and very well deserved, I am chuffed for him.
