Reel Maintenance

#1 Post by shortcircuit »

Hey all

You know the story-ask Google a question and get a thousand answers! I just want to know what do I need to do to keep my reels in good nick (fixed spool)?

rinse them under the tap after a session?
take off the spool and rinse there?

oil them - where???

what kind of oil to use??

what are your essentials for reel maintenance?

I'll bite.... all i do is leave them in a bucket of fresh water for the night with the spool off , then rinse them the day afterwards and I just the small tin of 3 in one oil in and around what visible to the eye........ seems to work just fine for me...

now where did i leave those launch codes???
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot

All I do is dunk them in the sink, run the tap over them for a bit, then give a quick spray of WD40...does the job and have had no problems!
sure, its not raining between the showers!

just rinse them in fresh water, ie under the tap, let them dry and apply a drop of oil to the bail arm
