Dublin hounds 08/06/13
People:Myself and 4 outhers
Duration:a long time!!!!
Tide:High
Weather:Fantastic
Bait:Crab
Rigs:pullys
Results: Decided to head out for a hound session with it being a new moon weekend and the late tides in dublin, but our hopes were dashed before we even headed out with allot of talk about no hounds being caught. But we had our little hearts set on a dublin hound.
2 of us arrived in poolbeg around 9:30 thinking we would have to walk to half moon for some water but the water was already in to the car park so we headed down the pier. Set up halfway and put the line in the water, from the onset the rods were getting hit.
Sharp quick bites but then nothing for a few mins, then more sharp quick bites. The sun was setting and it was getting dark but still no hookups and to make it worse the midgeys were out in force!!! You couldent breath with them. In my eyes, ears mouth.... But we stuck at it.
3 other lads joined us and within 30 mins of them putting bait out there was a 4lbs hound landed. Then nothing but more bites for the next few hours. Having the craic and not wanting to leave without a hound we fished well into the drop.
At 1:30 am 1 of the lads decided to call its quits and broke down but as he was packing his rod away all 4 rods got hit within 2 mins of each other. 4 more hounds were landed. 1 was close to 7lbs the rest ranged between 1 and 4 lbs.
We lived in hope for another hour after that but no more fish were landed we headed home then around 2:30..
