Report:
With the weather been so good,, a plan was launced to try for the first shore tope of the year,,, although we got to the mark we had to wait for over an hour for the current to drop off,, not soon after that bang rod tip over,, line peeling from the reel,, fish on,, down to business,, tighten the clutch a little and set the hook,, that is when th e fish took off like a rocket,, line screaming from the reels,,, after about 5 min I got some line back on it,, and then it just heeled up in the water rod double over ,, i was not getting any more line back nor was he he running just sitting there,,, another run,,, and then got it to the shore line,, but he was not finished,, but I made a hugh mistake I loosen off the drag to much and he took off line stripping from the reel I ended up with a big birds nest,,,Sh 1 t i said im going to loose this now, but managed to hand wind the line back on the spool passed the bird nest,,, and then it came a shore..... nackered at this stage.... appox..weight 40 pound......

Belter!!!! It makes it worth while this aul fishing lark.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
