People: me fein and FMD

Duration: 8.30 to midnight

Tide: dropping to lw

Weather: bright warm but chilly enough in breeze after dark

Bait: frozen peeler, mac, lug, sandeel

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulley

Results: 2 flounder

Report: with the glorious weather of late i have been giving myself a hard time for not getting out, but work has been the prioirty of late

decided on a mid week session due to the weekends being tide up - more work!

FMD surprisingly agreed, the freezer was emptied and off we went

no surf worth talking about but lovely calm conditions - comfortable fishing conditions
one of those where youll sort out a load of those niggly problems with gear on the beach - that you always say ill fix when i go home - but always forget!

got the rigs out on both and noticed my inclose one drag to the right quick enough - okay 2oz is too little
then i looked up to my left and noticed in the 30mins since set up a few sprigs of weed dumped 200m to the east
then i could see it on the line - OH FXXX - not weed again, here on this beach - after 10 pure calm days where is it coming from

so scrap the calm session - straight away it was sunk lines, hand dragging in, clearing, putting the rods in the tripod high
the one at distance wasnt too bad but in front the meagre waves were showing plenty of scraps in it

then it got to the point there was NO POINT in front

FMD left the rod in the stand and didnt cast

i persevered with the one at distance - it was only minorly hampered and there was nibbles pulling at the sandeels -hope?
stubbornly i didnt want to throw away my only session in 3 weeks and stayed at it

as the tide stripped away it was clear the weed was stopping to dump to my left and began to appear at my right
i could start in close again

got a nice cast in behind the last wave - i was egging FMD on to put it out again - but declined

i said i would give it 3 more casts and then retrieved a double of flounder, 19 and 20cm
nothing amazing but gave me some sort of achievement

no more fish were caught

of course then i started lamenting my inability to pull off double figure hounds and bass on this beach

isint it always the way - you want more!

hopefully my next session wont be too far away

tight lines all

Frustrating with the weed but you stuck at it and got some reward, I'm sure the delayed gratification of big bass and monster hounds is just around the corner! Must meet up soon for a session.
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
