They do get some fantastic sized sea trouts over there. I think I'll put Denmark on "the list."

if you can get the opportunity to view the 'Wide Open' DVD's just to get an atmosphere they are worth a look - from a point of view of fisheries 'management' and development they are also very interesting

I've had a look before at 2 of the spinning for sea trout wide open videos. They were good and some interesting techniques they use. It's a pity so much of the audio is in danish; some more subtitles would have been good. I got some of those bombarda floats which I still have to try out, and I like the idea of using a dropper fly a couple of feet above the lure.

Jim, do you think there is a pattern re tides. ie. they seem easier (slighty) to catch on a morning tide verses an evening one. Any thoughts on it?

R - I caught seatrout in the Moy estuary 10 years ago on the fly with Judd Ruane - in bright sunlight on a falling tide mid afternoon June, neap! I caught two today at 15:30 in the sea at the open shore in bright sunlight rising tide on mini xlayers fishing for bream. I can go on...but wont. Some swear by various theories, methods, flies, lures etc.......

A fish of 10,000 casts? We can all catch < 16.oz fish but the BIG ones, regularly - time and hard work on the water!

Some locations have VERY specific timings - others none at all - all we need is five minutes and the world is perfect!!

This may or may not be of some help - http://nomadsofthetides.blogspot.ie/

I do know one thing fish like these (and many others) http://www.probassfisher.com/2013/02/a- ... t-sea.html are accessible with a bit of hard work - the flies used in this sequence are not close to anything traditional
