Red Bay short session. Sunday 2/6/13

#1 Post by chuckaroo »

People: me

Duration: 5-7.30pm

Tide: approaching full, but still very low

Weather: warm and settled

Bait: fresh lug, frozen razor

Rigs: yip

Report:
havent fished bait from the shore for quite a while but was happy to give it a go today to see what was about
nothing much to report, just a typical session for the red bay shore when fishing the bottom i.e. a few small fish and a few differnt species. threw out 2 rods and and tried a bit of spinning but all fish fell to the bait. also chucked out the shrimp pot baited with a frozen razor into the kelp dring the session, but nothing in it on return.
enjoyed it fine as the conditions were nice. the other guy fishing along side me blanked :P
final result: 1 pollack, 1 coley, 1 flounder and 2 dogs

I think I passed you on my way to Cushendun, at least you managed a few fish, we had 6 rods out between 5 of us and 1 flounder for our efforts(5 hours), im officially retiring from that place ive never seen it as bad as that. I had planned to fish at the ledge only to be greated by a string of about 20 crab/lobster pots.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.

i had to fish between the pot lines, that was probably me indeed
gave up on Cushendun beach ages ago myself, its just another victim of our decimated fish stocks! :( apparently it used to be a fantastic spot years ago. not any more. stunning mark all the same..
jees i faired rightly then if i managed to out-fished 5 of yous
cheers for the post JR

That's one shiny flounder! Sounds like a good enough session judging by Julio Ragworm's report; I used to fish up that way regularly years ago but I don't sense any point in going again.
