Front or Rear Drag?
Hey lads, looking at buying a new reel, just wondering what are the pro's and cons of both front and rear drag. Targeting mainly bass and some pollock.

Re: Front or Rear Drag?
Front drag reels are more robust and usually have larger capacity spools to cope with long range fishing as well as allowing you to use a heavier breaking strain if needed.Rear drag reels are mainly for course fishing and are not ideal for sea fishing . The usual brands like penn or shimano will be the best bet but avoid the rear drag and baitrunners

Re: Front or Rear Drag?
I recently changed from rear drag Shimano Stradic to front drag Stradic Ci4. For me there is no question, I would say front drag all the way. The size and weight difference between the reels was enough for me but I can't see any advantages in rear drag over front.

Also if you have a rear drag reel the sand is more likely to get into it when you put the rod down to tie a know, change a lure, unhook a fish, etc etc, front drag for sea all the way.
