Date 5/5/06
Time 18:00-23:00
Bait rag/squid/mackerel/sandeels
Fish 1 weaver /3 Pollack
Tide on its way out just after high
It was a nice evening the sun was out and I was hopeing for a top nights fishing.when me and bigliam got there islandrockhoper was already fishing the pier and had a two hook rig on the bottom. I got my two rods set up and a pulley rig on both of them cast them out bigliam put one rod on the bottom and one floating. And nothing much happened relay till abut 20:00 bigliam got a small weaver fish on the float. I pulled in my small rod and put my float on and went till the rocks in front of the pier the tide was on its way out floated it for a bit but got nothing apart from a nice trip on the rocks dh’oo I would advise anyone fishing the rocks to were a hat rather than have your head cut. Anyway wile I was fishing the rocks islandrockhoper had went around to the rocks at the muck island side and I went around to have a chat at 21:00 he got 3 small Pollack and I decided to have a good look around the last time I was there I was on a boat and had one or two good marks picked out then and went to see if they could be fished I found one great spot that is hard to get to but would be good for fishing with shads and light gear. By the time I got back islandrockhoper had left and I went back over to have a yarn with bigliam it would have been about 21:45 maybe. And we sat there till about 22:30 then I started to pack up the last rod out of the water was at 23:00 I had no fish but it was still a good night hopeing to fish a spot in glenarm on the 6th lots of weed but that’s a good hideout for Pollack they like to ambush so I have been told. Anyway tight lines and will let you know how we get on in glenarm

yes ive fished there before, and noticed that, dont really like that place as the weed is off the rundown from the river above and your always getting snagged in it.

its worth experimenting with a few different shapes of leads over the rough ground first to see what holds best, and snags less, then buy the mould of it and make them, sometimes on rough, it heps to use a 4sided rolling lead as it sometimes sits in place on rock, therefore not rolling into cracks/snags on the rocks.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
