Has anyone used these much? Did a search, got some info. Veals are out of stock 'temporaraly' of the rod. Any idea how long this may be, emaild with no reply, need rod in 2.5 weeks, would you hold out for veals or go with Harris?

Thanks,

I have used Harris, Veals and the Glasgow Angling Centre.

Depends what rod you are looking for. Have you tried the Glasgow angling Centre? Make sure you call them first before ordering to ensure that the item is in stock. E-mail them with the order if you can, and stipulate 'Time is of the essence' and give them a realistic date for delivery, say five/six days. Their postage is more competitive than most of their competitors and they appear too have resolved some of their communication and stocking/ordering problems which were a bit of a problem in the past.

Have you phoned around local tackle shops? Some of the local shops are becoming more competitive than the big mail/internet order companies and carry a good stock.

Thanks for the replies guys.
:)
I tried to ring them today but couldn't get through, not sure if I am dialing the correct number, the one given is 0870 7444970 or 0870 8003050.

Living here (Republic), do I need do add anything infront of this number?
I added 0044, the U.K. international code, is this ok? :?

Thanks,

Pat,
Not looking to contradict you, from what I hear from the boys around Dubin, Viking cant even match the Irish prices

Thanks for that lads. I wasn't taking out the 0 so that should sort it. :D

Pat,
I have given up on Viking for this rod, first ordered it 10 weeks ago from here. They got in the wrong rod 4 weeks later so reordered it, this time with a deposit (they insisted). Was told I would be waiting a max now of 4 weeks, probably 2.

I have called in once a week for the past 10 weeks to check, only now to be told the're not sure if they can get it at all. Surely they would have known this before now? I have remained very polite the whole time.
One of the guys in there I find quite rude and has little time for me, but the other one is the total opposite, very friendly and helpful who I can't fault in any way.

The really annoying thing is, I could have gotten it in 1 week from veals but decided to support the local shop, now veals are out of stock of the rod!! :x  :x

Thanks again,

It's here Rockhopper

Pat, In fairness to Viking the price the were charging for it was only a few euros over mail order prices when you include the postage and packaging.

Col,

The reason I ask is this.....if you telephone Shimano, either ask to speak to the sales manager or whoever wants to take it on board. Tell them your not happy and why, say its putting you off buying Shimano again, they may be able to pull some strings and get one over to Viking, if the dont, I would ask for my deposit back and go somewhere else.

Shimano customer sevice is as good as anyones, they should try to help you, thats their job.
