Living the Wildlife, 7.00pm RTÉ One
Colin takes to the high seas in search of blue sharks off the coast of Cork. Setting out from Kinsale, he joins skipper Butch Roberts on an angling trip. Irish anglers now contribute to one of the largest tagging programmes anywhere in the world, catching and releasing sharks after fitting them with tags supplied by the Inland Fisheries Ireland and recording measurements for research purposes. This has been extremely useful in compiling a database of shark numbers and sizes off the coast of Ireland.

Yes that was great. That seemed nice balanced gear the chap was using on the second boat. I was in a lecture a couple of years ago where the same research team from UCC explained the tagging techniques used in the programme.

Not a bad show at all!
Pat's gear would deffo be more balanced than Butches winch!
It was typical, the sharks were hit and miss last season...as were the mackerel.
Those tags were certainly still broadcasting up to a few weeks ago and are probably still pinging away.
