Help choosing between - Grauvell Teklon Concept and Shakura

#1 Post by colin08 »

Hi,
Buying another rod :-). Reading alot about the Grauvell Concept Spin 802 ML and Shakura Shinjin 7' 8".
Can't make up mind which one to buy!

Will be using them For Sea Trout and Bass Lure fishing with Braid!

Anyone used both and have preferences?

Grauvell Concept is a super rod and well priced, no experience of the Shakura

From what I can see on the net the grauvel is a better rod for the money.I don't have this rod myself but do have a lot of other grauvel rods and never any problems with them.Their is another rod in the range that the casting weights slighthly lower but thats just me I like the lighter set ups!

Well I have not heard a bad report on The Grauvell. I think I will go for this. Thanks all for the replies!

I fished with the 802 Teklon. Its a great rod. Light in the hand and sensitive enough. I thought it was a great all rounder for hard lures and SP work. Very well able to handle fish too.

I've no experience of the Sakura rod so can't comment.

I have no experience of either of the two rods you are looking at, but I think both rods might be a little too powerful for seatrout fishing, especially with lighter lures. They would be fine for Bass. If your looking for one rod to suit both, maybe a 5-25g rod would be a better all rounder.

I was out with my 7' teklon today throwing 10g metals and a 15g suspending hard plastic, there was a slight cross wind but I was still able to put the lures out 30-35yds without much issue on 20lb braid, great feel right through to the lure too, imho I personally don't feel like it's too much overkill for lighter spinning... just my 2 cents....

In my view the Teklon is a better built rod. It's very sensitive but it's only downside is that the top rings are very small and in a crosswind, light braid tends to wraps itself around those rings. If you can live with that go for the teklon, if not go for the Sakura as it has Fuji K guides but may lose out on senstivity....
