Good news/ Bad news

#1 Post by Eoghan »

Good news - I got my yearly license for Sea Trout just there.!! :-)

Bad news - well lets face it, thats bad news for trout..!! :-)

Just kidding, will be CnR but my question is about handling..?
Best practice for returning..?
I dont target them but catch a fair few so I figured it was time I picked up a license so now
if the bass are shy I have an alternative.

probably best method of handling any fish is try not to take them from the water
unhook them in the water and also try and remove any sea lice
handle them, like any other fish being returned, gently

how much was the license Eoghen? is it possible to get a license/permit for a couple of days?? i need one. cheers

Yeah I meant to aim that at removing lice really than anything else. Always try to unhook in the water when possible. I did try to remove a few before but they seemed stuck on there and wasnt sure what force to use...?

Mine was € 100 for a country wide one, for the year '13.
You can buy a regional one for about half that, then they do a 21 day on I think for any region etc..

If you already have a Lough's Agency one then you can buy an extension for IFI areas. Cheaper that way.
